Some Rights are Wrong

“For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.” 1 Corinthians 9:18

As many of you know, Teresa and I have been in Thailand this past week serving at the Calvary Chapel Asia Missions Conference. I was so honored to have the opportunity to share the Word of God with faithful missionaries from all over Asia. I was greatly humbled when I considered what they have done in order to win some for Christ.

Our freedom in America includes the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This freedom is not enjoyed by most in Asian countries. In fact, many missionaries have experienced great persecution in order to win some to Christ. Please please be praying for our missionaries serving in Asia.

Many Christians living in America often transfer their ideas of what freedom is into their faith. They think they can follow Christ any way they see fit, similar to how they stand up for their rights. But I believe Paul is encouraging us to be willing to give up our freedoms and become servants to all, like these missionaries in Asia, if it means we might win some for Christ. Why? Because, like Paul powerfully said in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within you, who you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

Join us on Sunday as we open 1 Corinthians 9 where we will discover that “Some Rights are Wrong”. God bless you all and hope to see you there!
