Be Strong

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” Ephesians 6:10

The word “finally” signals the beginning of Paul’s conclusion to his letter to the Ephesians, where he gives us not only powerful words to live by but also reveals the source of the power we need to experience the Christian life.

I am convinced the reason so many Christians today experience depression is because they are trying to live their Christian life by their own strength. How often do you hear someone say “be strong” or “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” or “you just have to try harder”? Sayings like these indicate people are ignorant of Satan’s strategies. The Christian cannot afford to be “ignorant of his devices” as Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians 2:11.

C.S. Lewis said, “Humanity falls into two equal and opposite errors concerning the devil. Either they take him altogether too seriously or they don’t take him seriously enough.” If you or someone you know is experiencing depression or defeat, you will not want to miss the next few Sunday services. We begin this Sunday by opening Ephesians 6:10-12 and learning about Satan’s devices and how we can “Be Strong” in the power of God’s might.

God bless you all and hope to see you there!

REMINDER: This Sunday is Potluck Sunday so please remember to bring your favorite dish to share and to invite a friend to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
