“Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
If you were reading the book of Esther for the first time you might wonder, “Where is God?” Nowhere is God’s name mentioned and nowhere does it appear God is doing anything. The book begins with a narcissistic king in control which leads to an evil man named Haman gaining some control, but it never appears God is in control.
I must admit there are days I look around the world and wonder, “Where is God? Is He doing anything? Who is control anyway?” Even though it doesn’t seem God is in control, you can rest assured He is and He is working in His ways and in His time.
In his book “Knowledge of the Holy”, A.W. Tozer likened God’s sovereign purposes to an ocean liner leaving New York City bound for England. The people on board the ship are free to do as they please, but they aren’t free to change the course of the ship. “The mighty liner of God’s sovereign design keeps its steady course over the sea of history. God moves undisturbed and unhindered toward the fulfillment of those eternal purposes which He purposed in Christ Jesus before the world began.”
There is no doubt God is in control of all things in the world today. The only question we need to ask is, “Is God in control of my life?” For who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Join us Wednesday night at 6:30pm at the Portillo’s home as we open Esther 4 together and are comforted by the perfection of God’s sovereignty. God bless you all and hope to see you there!
